Autism Diagnostic Assessments

We understand that seeking an autism assessment can be a daunting task and it is so important to feel you are in safe hands.  We always provide assessments as a multi-professional team and only work with people who have over 10 years experience providing autism diagnostic assessments in the NHS.

Our approach is to recognise the strengths each individual has and use this as a foundation to give tailored recommendations.  We will listen to what's important to you and your family, your concerns and priorities and write a report that reflects your own individuality.

We provide assessments for both children and adults.

What to Expect

Prior to the assessment, we would have a telephone conversation with you to discuss your expectations and priorities.  We would also gather background information in order to be fully prepared for when we meet you.  This could involve questionnaires for school to fill in to understand their perspective, and/or could be screening questionnaires to be filled in by yourself.

The assessment itself would involve a detailed developmental history.  This would be with parents in the case of a child assessment, and in the case of an adult assessment, would be with the individual themselves, as well as a close friend or family member.  This would take place online from the comfort of your own home.

Each assessment would also involve a thorough face to face assessment with the individual, using a recognised, evidence-based tool such as the ADOS-2.  This could take place in your home or in our clinic in Nottingham.

The developmental history and face to face assessment would be administered by different professionals from different disciplines.  Currently, along with Speech and Language Therapists, we work with Clinical Psychologists and Psychiatrists.

When all the assessment components are complete, the professionals will meet and discuss the findings and offer a feedback session where the outcome of the assessment will be given, along with detailed recommendations.  This will also be followed by a detailed and thorough report.

The full assessment costs £1750 plus any travel costs incurred.
